August Phat Fiber Sample Box samples

Happy box day everyone! A little info about the various stitch markers that are as samples this month. All are silver plated copper beads and Czech glass beads. I didn't even realize I was making markers with a tribal influence until I was halfway through making the Egyptian Pyramid sets. Which means I have a slew of markers now to send as samples and bennies to customers both here and on Sheeps of Egyptian Cotton (where that yarn came from).

First up we have Egyptian Pyramids.  Triangle beads with a swirl/crop circle pattern flanked on both sides by 2 beads in shades of turquoise blue, sand, gold glass, and speckled cream.

Next is Serengeti Swans.  What is actually a 3 hole spacer bead is embossed with head to head swan shapes and flanked with various browns, and creams. Reminds me of the desert where I was born. While the Mojave isn't the Serengeti it's still pretty nice.

Afrikaans Diamonds. A silver diamond shape, with a 4 point geometric shape. For some reason it made me think of faceted stones, which brought up the stories my aunt and uncle would tell me about their time in South Africa. Flanked with jewel tone beads.

Tribal Flowers is made of a round pillow type bead, scored all over with a delicate 6 petal flower in the center. Dark floral colors adorn the top and bottom.

Jungle Fever. Sounds like a weird dance or something to me, but it's these adorable saucer beads marked on the rim with little circles. The beads for this one are greens with some tan and cream thrown in. Reminds me of pictures of the jungle with mist rolling through.

Last but not least by any means is the Road to Mecca. Islamic religion forbids the use of animals and peoples in their artwork there's lots of geometric designs and such. These slightly wavy edged diamonds are etched with little arcs of waves and adorned with beads in shades of blue. Djinns are supposed to be afraid of the color blue, which is why many mosques have blue tile designs.

I hope y'all have enjoyed reading about these loverly stitch markers, and will come check out the others in the shop. Mention the code word "babaloo" and get a free gift with any purchase.

Welcome to iMaile.

Welcome to the "official" blog of iMaile.

Just a little about me and the company. I make jewelry for both formal and casual settings. I'm working on various chainmaile weaves and have a ridiculous thing for pearls. You'll notice I also have lots of pretty stitch markers. What can I say? I figure that my knitting should have pretty shiny sparkles as well.

I'll have my markers featured in the August and September Phat Fiber Sample boxes and if I can find the makings I'll be in October as well. I'll be posting pictures of the August samples this week, as well as some info about the various necklaces.
